Compatible Laptops and Netbooks for LXLE
  • Using 12.04.5 on a i386 system. On my conky I always read 0% on the batt and I guess it does not work ? I installed "fdpowermon" and added it to the "autostart" menu of "lxsession-default-apps" and now I've a nicely working bettery-charge-discharge icon on my desktop.

    MY TESTBED:
Dell Studio 1737. With two hard disks, multibooting with Windows 10, Sparky (debian) 4.2 KDE and of course LXLE 64 bits 14.04.4 using XP paradigm

Have deployed LXLE on a lot of older PC's, (30 maybe) and about 9 or 10 net/notebooks, don´t have brands or lists handy

Installed LXLE in '14 on my old

    Thinkpad X61
    Core 2 Duo T7300 processor
2 Gb Ram, 250 Gb HD
No problems whatsoever with installation from Live CD.
It is still running, though tends to become quite hot, when many tabs open in browser.

In '15, I installed (from Live CD) LXLE on a newer

    Thinkpad T420s
    4x core i5-2520M @ 2.50GHz
6 GB Ram, 320 GB HD

Slight problem was that automatic login didn't work. LXLE only wanted to run with username and password (which is better in any case, of course).
LXLE is simply the most sensible and especially most loved option for me, even when 'heavier' distros should run without a problem on the newer Thinkpad.

    HP Pavilion dv1000 (ca 2004)

    HP Pavilion dv1000 (ca 2004)
    Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz)
    14.0″ WXGA BrightView Widescreen
    1GB DDR SDRAM (2700)
60 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
    LightScribe 8x DVD+/-RW&CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer
    Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 900 – Pentium
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG & Bluetooth
Custom scratches, dings, scrapes, sticky keys and general wear & abuse.

Installed easy with the 32bit version 14.x
Buttons work, wifi good, random shutdowns that it did running XP
have ceased. Was also able to install via deb pkgs Opera developer and an older 32bit
version of Chrome, then force in Adblock Plus and get Flash to behave.

Tweaks: Reduced the swap-thing from 60 to 10

Notes, have been doing PC hardware since 1989. First time a linux install has not frustrated the heck out of me and sent me grumbling back to XP, previously tinyXP, win99 and other bizarro MS re-rolls. Congrats + Thanks !!!

But then I try a second older HP laptop..... (see Hp 2100 to follow)
