Which vpn library did you install for network manager? Just to be clear, your not just trying to connect to an windows rdp server but also through a vpn as well? Would like to track this down for you.

That is right!
I'm trying to connect via RDP to WinServer through a VPN tunnel.
The VPN connection has been succesful established every time, according to the massage by the network manager.
Here the Packages from Synaptic:
libnm-glib-vpn1 - 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.4.1
network-manager-openvpn - 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu1
network-manager-openvpn-gnome - 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu1
openvpn - 2.2.1-8ubuntu1.2

I would try installing network-manager-vpnc and network-manager-vpnc-gnome

i would try just having one vpn network manager extension/library loaded at a time, to be honest, I'm running short on ideas. Perhaps heading back to Lubuntu would be best at this point. Some distro's, including lxle, just won't do what other distros might do already. I've seen this happen back and forth from one distro to another for well over a decade now. Nature of the beast I suppose.
