Toshiba Satellite p875. Had bad hard drive and memory stolen by my late father, bought it years ago and decided to give it new life. First install went fine until the GRUB boot loader wouldn't install, went into the forums and found Boot-Repair. Install and ran boot-repair, followed directions and now it runs just fine with a new WD 500 GB hard drive and new 8 GB ram. Everything works, wireless, DVD Drive, CAT, Internet. Love it. Using it for only Internet and Writing, nothing hard core so I didn't need a lot of memory. I'm so happy that this went relatively well and good job on this OS.
After testing several distros in an old PC I assembled in 2001 (15 years ago!), with different results, I was not completely satisfied.
I installed LXLE 16.04.1 and result is EXCELLENT: Web navigation, videos / sound playing, Office applications go smoothly, and even streaming video from youtube plays fine. Last but not least, distribution look and feel is very beautiful and pleasant to use.
I recovered this abandoned PC and now I will use it occasionally in my mother's home.
These are the PC specifications:
MS-6330 LE Motherboard / AMD Athlon 1133 Mhz CPU (32 bits / PAE) / 1280 MB RAM / 40 GB HD / Riva TNT2 PCI VGA Card / Realtek 8139 10/100 Eth Card
Congratulations to LXLE team. You have done a great work!
I just had to try it out.. It's said to be fast and fluid. Well, so far what i've seen, it looks like elementary os mixed with ubuntu except it's more apps and even faster. ~SoftBox
