Does anyone have any experience with installing and running lxle on Mac laptops? I'm offering anyone I know to revive their old pc's with lxle - but I don't have any experience with Mac's yet ... and I would really like to not f**k up my friends pc's :)
I see that lxle got a great review on Mac: http://lowendmac.com/2014/24-hours-with-linux-lxle-a-review/ EDIT: Ok, I was too sloppy just skimming and jumping to the conclusion and now I see that this review is not about running lxle on a Mac.
Not real familiar with it but I hear there are more hoops to jump through because the startup routine on Macs is very different. (I think this applies to some (non mac) machines running Windows 8.1 too)
Try searching for Ubuntu on Mac (e.g. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ubuntu+on+mac -- since LXLE is based on Lubuntu, which is based on Ubuntu); looks like some possible leads there. I imagine it needs to be an Intel-powered Mac, not Power PC.
Thanks, I'm looking into that. What I primarily wanted to know here was if anyone have any experience with LXLE and Mac. And you are right: It'll have to be Intel-Macs. There is no PPC version of LXLE. I just got an old Mac with PPC though - so that one will get Lubuntu or Debian :)
