After some awesome help from you all, was able to make sure my 32-bit iso was OK, but now when making a live disc, cannot get it to boot because of :
(initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: Invalid argument Can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs
After some digging in Google about this as pertaining to USB installation, it seems that everyone suspects this relates to a base-bit problem in the hybridization of the iso. A few discussions are out there for using dd to correct this. But what about for a live disc?
My guess is your iso again is damaged/corrupted regardless of what md5sum might say. I would download the ISO again directly to a usb stick then burn from the usb stick to a DVD. Something is either wrong with your harddrive itself or perhaps a borked OS that is currently residing on the computer. There are also no other reports of the 32bit being broken.
Cool - will try a different routine. Set up the 64-bit version, as well as a 32 and 64 of Mint and Elementary all yesterday and this is the only one to give me trouble.
