I've been using Linux since last year. I removed XP from an old laptop when support ended for it last year, and found that my options were limited when it came to installing a modern Linux distro on it. It won't boot *buntu 14.04 anything, or even Ubuntu 12.04 due to the laptop's integrated VIA graphics. But Kubuntu 12.04 worked just fine and I used it for several months, although it used a lot of RAM and was a bit slow.
Without going into too much detail about other distros here, suffice to say that every distro I tried was either too resource heavy, too minimalistic, or I or the computer's graphics had too many issues with it; until I found LXLE.
I am highly impressed with it. I've only had it installed for a couple of days, but it's been absolutely flawless and the graphics are as smooth as silk.
