LXLE not booting always to desktop

    Hi,
Ex Windows XP convert here, bin using this fantastic spin of Lubuntu  now for 3/4weeks -luv it !!!
Just recently upon booting to the desktop it goes to command line where I am required to enter name and password--and that's as far as my knowledge will go -so I perform a total shutdown and generally upon reboot all is ok.
Tried "startx" and that didn,t work.I really require a "script" to enter after my password to allow it to boot to the desktop.
I,ve read a fair bit on the ubuntu forums but nothing is very specific to LXLE and as a newbie I am too inexperienced to gauge whether this will work here.
I could reinstall and set every thing up again but I really don,t want to if any one can offer a solution.
    Thanks

in the terminal or at the command line try to fix your xserver, perhaps it was broken in an attempt to install a graphics driver of some kind.

    enter the following

    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

    then reboot.
