There is an LXDE bug where if there is more than one panel then the volume icon slider appears below open windows. See bug report here: http://sourceforge.net/p/lxde/bugs/410/. I can confirm that by removing the dock-like panel makes the volume slide behave normally again. Is this bug affecting anyone else?
