Greetings & Good Job Lxle Team!

Title says it all; I wish to replace Mint XFCE Petra with Lxle while preserving all my app configurations and settings if possible. My Petra install currently shares a USB HD on one ext4 6 gig (1.5 gigs free) partition next to a FAT 12 gig one which contains my work files.

I'm not a techie, just a play-it-by-ear newbie but I'll take a shot at tinkering under the hood if one shows what!

    Thanks for any hints!

    Jim in NYC

    Backups.  (And then Restore.)

You might give a search at uDuck a shot at serving up a detailed answer on this one.  http://uduck.org/

There are a few strategies to keep your /Home directory, but when changing out distros, a lot will get lost in the translation.  Your best bet is to either bite the bullet and start fresh, which will give LXLE a clean slate or at the least doing a backup of your apps.

Some apps may not be installed in LXLE, which you would have to remedy.

Here's a start fo you on the Backup/Restore route:  http://askubuntu.com/questions/9135/best-way-to-backup-all-settings-list-of-installed-packages-tweaks-etc

    Good Luck!
