12.04.4: lxrandr: missing required tag
  • While doing an 'apt-get install' on the new 12.04.4 release, I got the following message in the output to the terminal...
    '/usr/share/menu/lxrandr: missing required tag: "section" '

    apt-get install what? apt-get install dist-update , dist-upgrade, apt-get install some program?
  • > sudo apt-get install htop

    run an update through synaptic and try that again, i can't repeat the error
  • Did a re-download, re-install (in VirtualBox); installed htop using SPM and got same error...maybe it's connected with using VB?

    perhaps
  • Got it one time now on a real live install (not in VirtualBox)...

    Maybe it's something to do with my video hardware/screen (generic laptop)?

    I'd be interested if anyone else reports it...just curious...just a tiny bit irksome...  :)

    Found the problem...the file /usr/share/menu/lxrandr had a broken first line; I fixed it by adding a '\' at the end of the first line and retested and it's okay now and mine looks like this now:

    ?package(lxrandr):needs="X11"\
      section="Applications/System"\
      title="lxrandr" command="/usr/bin/lxrandr"
