Usepassword forgotten
  • Hi there. I was installing LXLE in an old noteboook, months ago. Yesterday getting back to this device when trying to update software I discovered that do not remember the user password.  Anystandingchance to retrieve it in any way?
    thank you...for understanding
  • Too late... I’m installing latest LXLE version anew on to my old Lenovo ideapad. Not willing to share dual booting with Windows 10 anymore. Not a pity somehow. Just more HD capacity for LXLE :)
  • Bad news. Installation did not work.
The pc UEFI did not match with grub. Grub error -c. -in the web found some solution shown but no success with that - suggestion to enter in live session > pls see https://itsfoss.com/fix-minimal-bash-line-editing-supported-grub-error-linux/  does not accept commands as shown.  Any suggestion? Error known?
Now have pc neither with windows nor LXLE - really bad...
  • got also this error message
    qwerty@qwerty:~$ sudo grub-install /dev/sd1
    Installing for i386-pc platform.
grub-install: error: failed to get canonical path of `/cow'.

  • Hi there, meanwhile after a short testing with Fedora after a complete notebook format, I returned to my beloved LXLE which is for me, the light linux disto ever for old computers. Anything went fine this time. UEFI has been disabled and booting is fine. Just one unique problem so far. By UEFI set-up did probably mess up something cause USB cannot be seen anywhere in the BIOS/UEFI and in my desktop no USB pen can be accessed and both USB ports are apparently disabled as well. Any suggestion? Driver to download, firmware to install or anything else....?
  • No. This solution did not work either .. :(
  • please check this

    qwerty@qwerty-Lenovo-ideapad-100-15IBD:~$ sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb
    [sudo] password for qwerty:
fdisk: cannot open /dev/sdb: No such file or directory

    is that correct?

  • udo fdisk -l
