How to install LXLE?
  • Dear admin,

I am a complete newbie at installing LXLE.

    1. I want to overwrite or remove totally from my laptop (see 9 for specs) Windows 10.

    2. I have downloaded to my USB stick. https://sourceforge.net/projects/lxle/

    3. The above linked page says:  "LXDE eXtra Luxury Edition", does this mean LXDE eXtra Luxury Edition is part of the LXLE package?

    4. Do I now download to my USB stick the unetbootin Linux 64 Bit Binary from here:

    5. If yes? What do I do next?

    6. In the BIOS I have moved the USB HDD to no. 1 in the "boot priority order".

    7. Is that (6 above) correct? If no? What should it be?

    8. FYI in the same "boot priority order" is:

    a. At no.5, USB FDD and

    b. At no.7, USB CDROM

    9.  Disk capacity 500 GB
         RAM memory 4 GB
         Processor speed1.6 GHz
         Intel Celeron N3050
         L3 cache 0 MB
         64 Bit OS

    Thanks in advance.

  • Unetbootin goes on your hard drive. When you download the LXLE ISO, it also goes on your hard drive. Then you fire up Unetbootin, and you tell it "I want you to burn this ISO to this USB drive". You will then have a Linux LiveUSB stick. After that, reboot your computer, and during startup, it should boot you into the Live version of the OS, which will have an option to install LXLE to your hard drive, wiping out Winblows in the process. Or you can ask a local computer nerd to do it for you :)
