Plymouth screen at boot

Is there supposed to be a Plymouth graphical boot screen? And why doesn't the installer have a slideshow?

The plymouth boot screen is the details scrolling across the screen. I find it more useful. The installer doesn't have a slideshow because I find them near pointless.
