SeaMonkey and Pidgin Menus Not Removed.
  • When the Synaptic Package Manager is used to remove SeaMonkey and Pidgin; the following menu items are left behind:

        - ChatZilla
        - FireFTP
        - Mail/News/RSS
        - SeaMonkey Browser
        - Addresses
        - Composer
        - Pidgin

These appear to be related to the following files:

    ChatZilla:    /home/xxxxx/.local/share/applications/sirc.desktop
    FireFTP:    /home/xxxxx/.local/share/applications/sfireftp.desktop
    Mail/News/RSS:        /home/xxxx/.local/share/applications/smailnews.desktop
    SeaMonkey Browser:    /home/xxxxx/.local/share/applications/seamonkey-mozilla-build.desktop
    Addresses:    /home/xxxxx/.local/share/applications/saddress.desktop
    Composer:    /home/xxxxx/.local/share/applications/scompose.desktop
    Pidgin:        /home/xxxxx/.local/share/applications/pidgin.desktop

Moving the above mentioned files to a backup directory resolved the issue.

No attempt was made to see if reinstalling SeaMonkey and Pidgin restored the menus.

go to the ~/.local/share/applications and delete the desired shortcuts.
  • Thanks Lxle.  I checked the ~./local/share/applications directory and the removed applications had been removed.  It appears apt was not removing them from the users directory.

I also noted that I had missed the Calendar app in my original post.  Now removed.

    Thanks
