Missing CPU DIsplay in 16.04
  • I used the update tool to take LXLE from 14.04 to 16.04. My machine is a
desktop core2 duo with an older AsRock mobo and 2 GB of RAM. 14.04 had a little "thought balloon" in the upper right hand corner of the display that showed CPU, RAM, and LAN throughput; that has now disappeared. Was this a Conky script, or ?? If so, where can I find a copy of the script? Thanks in advance.

It was a conky script. If you have your live cd for 14.04, you can copy the .conkyrc and the folder out of the home folder.

Still haven't figured out how you upgraded to 16.04 Usually you have to install from cd/usb to upgrade.
  • I upgraded through an advisory pop-up message after booting that there was a new version of Ubuntu available and did I want to upgrade. So I did. There's no data at risk; I can reinstall from scratch in this case.

not sure how that occurred since displaying upgrades to the 'next version' of ubuntu are disabled by default... there was also never an update manager running in the background either.
