sudo apt-get install language-pack-gnome-ar language-pack-gnome-bn language-pack-gnome-de language-pack-gnome-es language-pack-gnome-fr language-pack-gnome-hi language-pack-gnome-ja language-pack-gnome-ru

you may have to restart afterwards, but then the installed language tools should work, leave a post if it doesn't.
