Power PC Linux?
  • Got an old iBook that won't boot, so I'm looking for a Linux that I can run off a stick for diagnostic purposes and then install if the hardware is still good, or possibly repair it, then install it depending on what failed (I've changed the HD on this one before, pain but doable).

There anything out there that's still active? Everything I found seems to be long dead and abandoned.

I would go with Debian - The universal OS :)
I made I thread about this once: http://www.lxle.net/forums/discussion/939/lxle-and-mac
And you can search Distrowatch and filter on PowerPC in Architecture if you want to look for more distros - but I think you would be best of with Debian.
